Pourquoi nous rejoindre en tant que bénévole ?
Our organisation depends on the commitment of volunteers. We collaborate with you to take concrete action on behalf of the displaced people stranded on the French-British border. We welcome all kinds of volunteers, with many different skills and aspirations. Our organisation has been designed so that everyone can take part in our work with exiles and help with the running of l’Auberge.
Why become a volunteer?
Volunteering is an excellent way of understanding first-hand the reality of the daily lives of displaced people.
Calais is no longer a hot topic in the media, but the humanitarian drama unfolding on our doorstep remains unresolved.
We want to enable people to see, judge and act directly. Our volunteers can then spread the word and raise awareness when they return home.
We are convinced that through solidarity and collective action, we can change our society for the better.
What will I do as a volunteer?
There are several ways to get involved as a volunteer:
- Join the Woodyard → You cut and distribute firewood in the living sites, to enable everyone to heat themselves, cook and dry their clothes during the harsh Calais winters.
- Join the The Channel Info Project → You participate in access to information and digital inclusion for people on the move, with the aim of strengthening their autonomy and security.
For these projects, we generally request a availability from 6 weeks to 2 months minimum.
- Supporting the warehouse → You can support our partner associations at the warehouse. For a short period, you can take part in logistical support activities.
These actions are more than necessary for our organizations' action on the ground; without them, meeting the needs of people stranded on the coast is impossible.
After a few days at the warehouse, we'll try to get you to join our teams on the ground for distribution in Calais and the region. You can work directly with l'Auberge or with one of our partner organisations. l’une de nos organisations partenaires.
