Why become a volunteer?
Our organisation depends on the commitment of volunteers. We collaborate with you to take concrete action on behalf of the displaced people stranded on the French-British border. We welcome all kinds of volunteers, with many different skills and aspirations. Our organisation has been designed so that everyone can take part in our work with exiles and help with the running of l’Auberge.
Why become a volunteer?
Volunteering is an excellent way of understanding first-hand the reality of the daily lives of displaced people.
Unfortunately, Calais is no longer a hot topic in the media, but the humanitarian drama unfolding on our doorstep remains unresolved.
We want to enable people to see, judge and act directly. Our volunteers can then spread the word and raise awareness when they return home.
We are convinced that through solidarity and collective action, we can change our society for the better.
What will I do as a volunteer?
If you come as a short or medium-term volunteer, you will be helping us with our activities at the warehouse; receiving donations, sorting, storing, preparing distributions etc.
These activities are vital for the running of our organisation, as they enable us to make vital distributions to the displaced people with whom we work.
These activities will also allow you to better understand our organisation, our partners and how we work together.
After a few days at the warehouse, we'll try to get you to join our teams on the ground for distribution in Calais and the region. You can work directly with l'Auberge or with one of our partner organisations. l’une de nos organisations partenaires.
